whoa, i haven't posted in a long time! i just wanted to check up on things around here. so i'm loving this high school class that i'm taking for credit! i actually love algebra... i like everything, really. i like how our teachers want us to express ourselves. i love how we're allowed to have opinions. i know that might sound weird, but you know it's true. i used to be the girl who freaked out when she got called on because she was afraid of getting the answer wrong. but now, especially because of english, i've come to realize that their are no stupid opinions. no one's 100% right, and no one's 100% wrong all the time... except maybe george w. bush, haha :DD but really; share what you think matters. do what moves you. learn as much as you can while you still can. and be young as long as you can. you'll never get these years back.
in social studies today though, our teacher made a good point. he was talking about how some of us don't appreciate the school experience right now; that if there weren't laws forcing us to be there, we wouldn't go, because we see no point to it. which, in a really sad way, is sort of true. i know i value my education, but there are some kids out there who genuinely just don't care. that makes me sad. i love reading, books, magazines, the paper, you name it. i'm one of the few kids i know that actually watches the news. i'm one of the few kids i know that actually keeps up with politics. i'm one of the few kids that actually has opinions for herself, and let's them be heard. you can't be scared. you need to let people know how you feel. we have free speech for a reason, you know. use it, but use it wisely. there's a difference between voicing your opinion on an important topic and talking trash. know it. embrace it. use it.

yepp, that's right. fifteen days till school starts. i'm on the c team [seperated from jess & kayla :( ]. i'm taking GT english and algebra. something tells me that this will be a fun year. i'm going into the eighth grade at cms, which is a pretty spiffy school. i don't even mind the learning part. i like to read and all that crap. i'm just going to miss the relaxation and freedom, ya know?

My nickname (mangostarrr) was given to me in a funny way =]
We were out at Coldstone for smoothies. Katelyn's like: We need nicknames!!! We pretty much got stuck after that... so we named ourselves after the fruit in our smoothies. So I was mango, Kat was peaches, Katelyn was kumquat, Hannah was melons, and Cass was Kiwi =]
I added star to mine for two reasons. One- I love to sit out on the roof and look at stars at night. Two- I want to be a star on Broadway.

Hey! I know, I know, it's been a while. So...
I just got back from Peru. The water was AMAZING! I'm totally going back just to swim in that lake forever. I'm not even kidding. It's so much nicer than Lake Michigan (even though the water died my white swimsuit brown). At least it doesn't have freaky diseases.
So last night, Jessica and I got dressed up and went to the Breaking Dawn release party. We ended up leaving early, though (1- Sky was stalking us. 2- Katelyn never showed. 3- Our feet hurt. 4- We had like three Starbucks. 5- I'm on the waiting list at the library anyway) so we went to my house and watched Monk. We also had PANCAKES! Yay, pancakes!

I don't really know why... but I really like one a.m. The sky's so clear and filled with stars... it's also when I write my best. The moon always looks so beautiful... it's really inspiring. I'm now reading a book called Places I Never Meant To Be. If I wasn't aware of censorship before, I totally am now. I'm only on the introduction, but already I'm outraged that a country with so-called free speech and free press would contradict themselves by attempting to ban books. It doesn't matter how hard you try to "protect" your kids, because unless they live with you in a plastic bubble for the rest of their lives, they'll eventually discover it. I just wanted to vent, so I'm sorry that this is so short.

Hello again. So, you may or may not know this... but I'm not allowed to date until school starts. Why? I do not know, but I won't question it, because really, what's the point of dating in the summer time? You never really get to see each other because of vacations and grad parties and what-not. I just wouldn't be all that comfortable with it unless we'd been dating for a while before school let out. Besides, I don't really like anybody. Why? Because school let out over a month ago, and I haven't seen my used-to-be crush since Friday the Thirteenth at the pool party. Anyway, I'm having fun remaining single. Who says that girls need to have a boyfriend to have fun? Now I have plenty of time to just relax, continue with my writing and singing, pursue photography, and just live life.

I don't know about you... but tis summer, and once again, I am in love... with icy pops, that is :) These are by far my favorite summer cool down treat. The best flavors EVER are mango, coconut, and of course, the classic "bomb pop". Yes... I do love those. The strangest part is that I eat them in the pool, which some people actually find odd... I'll have to look into that. Why am I talking about frozen food products? Because it's 90 HACKIN' DEGREES HERE, THAT'S WHY!!! I mean seriously, I. Need. Rain.
In other news... my garden is doing quite well this year. My dog is fixated with the sprinkler and stands under it every time we turn it on, attempting to swallow as much water as possible. She jumps for it, and it's quite silly to watch. Anyway, we planted spices for the first time this year (dill, parsley, oregano, ect.). They're tasty! My sunflowers are simply gorgeous! We planted them late, and they're almost three feet tall now. No word yet on the zuchini, cucumbers, or spaghetti squash... I'll let ya know.
Oh, and today is ALLIE-SAURUS' B-DAY PARTY!!! So in about a half hour I'll be off at a grad party (last one, thank god) and at five I'll be at the YMCA to swim! Yay! I'm quite spiffy today, ehhh?

I am sick and tired of people being afraid of expressing their opinions. This is America, hun... in case you're not into history, lemme give you an update: we have free speech and free press. So don't be scared. Let it out!
-I don't know about you, but I am loving the new ABC family show The Secret Life of the American Teenager. It's obviously a very real issue today, so we can learn from things like that. It may be a bit controversial, but we should discuss those things. If we run from them, they'll only progress and become even worse than they were before.
-GAY PEOPLE ARE NOT LOWER BEINGS! Honestly, I thought we were smarter than that. Just because someone has different preferences, it doesn't make them any less of a person. Another thing- just because a guy is vegetarian or into theatre, it doesn't make him gay! It makes him sensitive... and, newsflash: sensitivity is hot in ~~almost~~ every girl's book. Culture is good. It won't kill you.
-I just got the new issue of Girl's Life (GL), and I was outraged to see that as a response to a young girl with sweaty hands, they suggested a Botox injection for a few hours of no sweat. I was incredibly angry at this, because Botox is tested on animals. I was disappointed that one of my favorite magazines would go along with something so wrong. On a lighter note, last month they had an article, Not So Boy Crazy. I really respected the fact that they had enough guts to go after a topic like that.

in case you haven't noticed... i feel ~~very~~ extremely responsible as american to share my political spin on things. yes, i'm smart. whoulda thunk it, right? anyway, i'm not at all afraid to say what i feel the need to say... so i'll say it.
